Live Like Jake 5K Run/Walk
Want to support a foundation, get active with your community, or take a scenic jog? You can do all these things when you sign up for the Live Like Jake 5K Run/Walk!
Domnick Cunningham & Whalen is proud to support the Live Like Jake Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding scholarships for survival swim lessons and donating financial assistance towards families who have lost a child or have a child with critical health issues.
Jake was a child who was able to appreciate the little things in life and could create his own happiness from them. In November of 2013 Jake tragically passed away in a drowning accident. His family established the Live Like Jake Foundation in honor of his life and to provide awareness for drowning prevention and promote an optimistic lifestyle.
The race will be on Saturday May 11, 2019, with the 5K and walk starting at 7:00 AM. There will also be a one mile walk at 7:45 AM in honor of Jake. A 100-yard dash will start at 8:20 AM for kids at no cost and afterwards the awards for the 5K age group winners will be presented. The electronically chip-timed run will start on University Blvd by Amphitheatre in the Abacoa Town Center, then head southbound on Central Blvd, and finish on University Blvd. Finish medals and either a commemorative t-shirt or visor will be handed out to all as they pass the finish line, and those who wish to participate from another location can do so with the virtual 5K run/walk. Simply register and run or walk your distance and post your results on the Live Like Jake Facebook page. A medal and t-shirt will be mailed, which may take up to four weeks after the race to arrive.
Dogs, rollerblades, skates, skateboards, bikes, and scooters are not permitted on the 5K Run or Jake’s Mile race courses.
