The Domnick Cunningham & Yaffa Water Safety Scholarship
Domnick Cunningham & Yaffa is proud to announce the Water Safety Scholarship, awarding $1,000 to a student who is actively promoting water safety in their community.
Although water activities such as going to the beach, a waterpark, or a local community pool, are often fun events, they can also turn out to be very dangerous. In most cases, the risks these water environments pose require a lifeguard on duty to prevent accidents and injuries. Lifeguards must complete rigorous training to avoid tragedies that can occur in their specific water environment such as life saving techniques for rescuing someone from the water, first aid, CPR, and AED operation.
With the popularity of water activities, water safety is an important topic for everyone. Even for those who personally don’t like to be in the water or are near water, the opportunity to improve water safety can impact and benefit all.
We are excited to offer this scholarship in an effort to promote safe water practices. We asked students to discuss in a 750-1,000 word essay how a certain water-related activity can be improved to provide a safer environment for all. From jet-ski and boating accidents, to waterparks and community pools, identify a specific water safety issue in your community and recommend solutions that will help save lives.
Here at Domnick Cunningham & Yaffa, we support, and respect those individuals dedicated to promoting water safety for others and would like to honor them with this scholarship.
